Begins the week of January 8, 2024

When the holiday season is over, Transportation Operations crews provide free tree pick-up service to assist residents in recycling holiday trees.

Starting January 8, residents may place undecorated Christmas trees behind the curb near the main intersection. Our operations crews will be driving around the city to collect them. It may take several days for all of the trees to be picked up. Keep sidewalks, bike lanes, and roadways clear when dropping off trees. For more information, please contact Transportation Operations at (360) 754-4150.

Safely Disposing Your Tree

Do not put your live tree up too early or leave it up for longer than two weeks. When the tree becomes dry, discard it promptly. The best way to dispose of your tree is by taking it to a recycling center or taking it down and waiting until the City starts the Christmas Tree Recycling program on January 8.

When dropping off your holiday tree for recycling, please remember the following:

  • Remove tree stands
  • Remove all ornaments, decorations, lights, and tinsel
  • Artificial trees will not be accepted

For more information, please contact the Transportation Operations Department at (360) 754-4150.
