Public Participation
Residents are encouraged to express their opinions on any matter within the Council's authority. Oral presentations and written communications are both appropriate methods of expression during public meetings. Written communications also may be directed to the City Council at City Hall or by email.
If you want to address an issue that is scheduled for a public hearing, plan to attend the Council meeting and speak during the hearing; if you want to speak to another issue, sign up at the meeting or make yourself known during the “public comment” period held early in each Council meeting.
During the public comment period, speakers must step to the lectern, placed at the front of the room, and state their name and address for the record. Speakers are asked to limit their remarks to no more than three minutes, or no more than five minutes when presenting the official position of a recognized organization.
