- No, we do not offer fingerprinting or background investigation. Please contact Washington State Patrol to obtain these services.
- At this time, ride-alongs are only offered to those actively interviewing with the department for officer positions.
- The Tumwater Police Department does not offer a Reserve Officer program at this time.

- If the incident is happening now, just happened, or you feel you are in danger, call 911 immediately.

Evidence can be retrieved by contacting our evidence technician at (360) 754-4200.
- You must have an appointment to retrieve property.
- Your case must be adjudicated in order for your property to be released.
- The State of Washington requires our department complete a background check prior to the release of firearms.

Collisions not initially reported can be filed with Washington State Patrol on their OMVCR Website. Paper copies of the report can be found at the Tumwater Police Department and should be mailed to Washington State Patrol directly.

- Emergency: Call 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY. Please answer all questions and stay on the line until told otherwise by the call receiver. If you cannot make a voice call, 9-1-1 will also accept text messages.
- Non-emergency: Call (360) 704-2740 to report non-emergent crimes such as vandalism, vehicle prowls, and theft. You may also call non-emergency dispatch to speak to code enforcement officers regarding nuisance complaints such as noise, parking, etc.

If there are suspicious circumstances surrounding the disappearance or if the individual is a vulnerable person (child, developmentally disabled, elderly, etc.) call 9-1-1 immediately.
In any other case, missing persons and runaways should be reported directly to the police as soon as possible. Call (360) 704-2740 to request officer assistance.
You DO NOT need to wait 24 hours before reporting a missing person.
If you believe a vehicle is abandoned, call non-emergency dispatch at (360) 704-2740 and request “code enforcement”. If the vehicle is creating a traffic hazard, call 9-1-1.
You can report anonymous crime tips through Thurston County’s Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1 (800) 222-TIPS or at CrimeStoppersOfSouthSound.org.
- Immediately contact your credit card companies and bank to place an alert on your accounts.

- The City has no municipal code or law that prohibits or limits transients, panhandlers or solicitors from standing on the street corners or outside businesses within the City limits, as long as they are located on public property and they are not interfering with ingress/egress. A business has the ability to limit where and/or if a panhandler can be soliciting on their private property.

The Tumwater Police Department is located at 555 Israel Road SW, adjacent to Tumwater City Hall. The business office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and can be reached by phone at (360) 754-4200.
By law, the City of Tumwater is responsible for upholding laws within its jurisdiction to ensure the public’s safety. In Tumwater, court, public defense, and prosecution services are provided by Thurston County, through separate service contracts. A Violations Division is located at Tumwater City Hall to accept payment for traffic infractions, parking tickets and other non-criminal infractions only.
To Pay a Fine
Tumwater Violations Division accepts payments for parking and traffic violations, and non-criminal offenses for which you cannot go to jail. Please call (360) 754-4190 for assistance.
