A Friendly Reminder About Fireworks
The City of Tumwater reminds residents and visitors that fireworks may not be sold or discharged in our community.
Fireworks regulations prohibit the sale, purchase, or discharge of fireworks in the City of Tumwater at all times of the year. A majority of voters in Tumwater supported a ban, similar to the fireworks bans approved by Olympia and Lacey voters. This means fireworks may not be sold or discharged in the cities of Lacey, Olympia, and Tumwater.
Fireworks purchased or sold in other communities, may not be used in Tumwater.
This prohibition does not apply to public displays or to the sale, use and discharge of small trick and novelty devices.
- Novelty devices such as snakes, glow worms, and party poppers are permitted.
- Sparklers and all other types of "safe and sane" fireworks are prohibited.
- Fireworks purchased or sold in other communities, may not be used in Tumwater.
Residents and visitors celebrating the Independence Day holiday in the City of Tumwater are encouraged to do so in a safe and enjoyable manner that is within the law.
Don't light that fuse! It's against the law. Residents may pick up a Fireworks Ban sign for their yard or neighborhood starting June 15 at Tumwater City Hall. Signs will NOT be available for pickup at the Police Department or Fire Department stations.
