Lodging Tax Advisory Committee

The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee is composed of a cross-section of representatives from the tourism industry. The Committee meets two to three times per year to develop a recommendation to the City Council for distribution of lodging tax funds. A policy to guide the City's investment of lodging tax in tourism related activities, facilities, and programs has been established through Resolution No. R2016-006.

Lodging tax, also called hotel/motel tax, is an additional 2% charge assessed to each hotel or motel room stay in the City. These revenues are earmarked for funding tourism-related activities as prescribed by state law. RCW 67.28.180; RCW 67.28.181; RCW 67.28.1816; Resolution No. R97-022TMC Chapter 3.12

Funded agencies are required to apply each year and report back to the City on the use of funds. The open application period is during the month of August with application review and funding recommendations in September/October. Visit the Lodging Tax Grant Fund page to find the final report forms.
