Council Committees

Council Committees are the policy review and means of discussion for the City Council, created to assist in examining issues that come before the Council in greater depth and detail. Committees study issues and develop recommendations for consideration by the Council. Committees do not take binding action on behalf of the City.

There are two types of committees, standing and ad hoc. Standing committees are permanent bodies with jurisdiction over specific ongoing policy areas such as finance and public safety. Ad hoc committees are temporary committees established to investigate and advise the Council on short-term issues and problems.

There are four standing subcommittees of the Tumwater City Council. All meetings are held in the Council Chambers at Tumwater City Hall and are open to the public. Meeting dates and times vary. See the City Calendar for the current meeting schedule.

Budget & Finance

Budget & Finance Committee Meetings

The Budget & Finance Committee meets as needed throughout the year. Funding application deadlines vary by program. All meetings are open to the public.

Currently, the Budget & Finance Committee is represented by Mayor Debbie Sullivan - Chair, Mayor ProTem Leatta Dahlhoff, Councilmember Eileen Swarthout, and Councilmember Michael Althauser.

The Budget and Finance Committee determines funding recommendations to the City Council for the Community Human Services Program.

Public Health and Safety Committee Meeting

Meetings are monthly on the second Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. in the Council Conference Room at Tumwater City Hall, 555 Israel Road SW, Tumwater, WA 98501. All meetings are open to the public.

Currently, the Public Health and Safety Committee is represented by Councilmember Peter Agabi - Chair, Councilmember Leatta Dahlhoff and Councilmember Kelly Van Holz.

Public Works

Public Works Committee Meeting

Meetings are held twice monthly on the Thursday following the Council meeting at 8:00 a.m. in the Council Conference Room at Tumwater City Hall, 555 Israel Road SW, Tumwater, WA 98501. All meetings are open to the public.

Currently, the Public Works Committee is represented by Councilmember Eileen Swarthout - Chair, Councilmember Michael Althauser and Councilmember Angela Jefferson.
