Protecting our water supply

npdes-logo

Pollutants on the streets can be picked up by stormwater and carried into our streams and creeks, making them unhealthy for humans, animals, and aquatic life.  These polluted rivers are a big issues, but they're not the only issue polluted stormwater can cause. Polluted stormwater can also lead to polluted drinking water. The city of Tumwater gets its drinking water from groundwater, which comes from rain water that soaks into the ground. This means that stormwater pollution can contaminate drinking water if we don't work hard to reduce stormwater pollution.

Comprehensive Stormwater Management Plan

The Comprehensive Stormwater Management Plan (CSWMP) reflects the unique features of Tumwater's environment and addresses current and anticipated regulatory requirements, existing problems, and the resources needed for the city to fully implement the plan.
