Infractions (traffic, parking and non-criminal violations)

An infraction is a non-criminal offense for which you cannot go to jail (ie. non-criminal parking tickets, traffic, non-traffic infractions).

Infractions may be responded to in one of four ways:

1. Pay the fine in full.
2. Make a payment plan with the City of Tumwater.
3. Request a mitigation hearing.
4. Contest the infraction.

The Tumwater Violations Bureau, located at Tumwater City Hall, can assist in paying and processing traffic infractions. The Violations Bureau can also be reached by phone at (360) 754-4190 and through the Tumwater Violations Bureau page.

Criminal Citations

All hearings and criminal court services for misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor criminal citations are held at the Thurston County District Court.

Please note that once a case is referred for prosecution, questions regarding the progress of the case should be directed to the Thurston County Prosecutor’s Office.
