Screen on the Green

What better way to spend summer nights in the Pacific Northwest than in an open-air cinema? Grab a blanket, pack a picnic, and join fellow park-goers for a family-friendly movie under the stars.

Screen on the Green is more than just an outdoor movie experience. It is an inclusive space that celebrates community connections and encourages young and old to get outside and enjoy the natural beauty of our parks. The series is FREE and kicks off on the 3rd Friday in July. Low-backed chairs are allowed, but please leave grills, umbrellas, and pets at home. Movie screenings begin at dusk.

• Friday, July 19 (Tumwater City Hall): The Goonies, 9:17 p.m. movie start time
• Friday, July 26 (Barclift Park): Migration, 9:05 p.m. movie start time
• Friday, August 2 (Kindred Park) - Wonka, 9:00 p.m. movie start time
• Friday, August 9 (Tumwater Valley Golf Course) - Barbie, 8:50 p.m. movie start time

Since 2006, Screen on the Green has brought the community together and has now become a favorite summer activity of many Tumwater families. On the first four Fridays in August, we set up our huge inflatable movie screen and invite the public to enjoy a family friendly movie for FREE! The fact that Screen on the Green is free to the public is the biggest reason why it’s been such a huge success. Keeping this event free is only possible with help from a great team of sponsors.
