Tumwater Lodging Tax Fund
The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee is composed of a cross-section of representatives from the tourism industry. The committee meets two to three times per year to develop a recommendation to the city council for distribution of lodging tax funds. A policy to guide the city's investment of lodging tax in tourism related activities, facilities, and programs has been established through Resolution No. R2016-006.
Lodging tax, also called hotel/motel tax, is an additional 2% charge assessed to each hotel or motel room stay in the city. These revenues are earmarked for funding tourism-related activities as prescribed by state law. RCW 67.28.180; RCW 67.28.181; RCW 67.28.1816; Resolution No. R97-022; TMC Chapter 3.12
