In addition to managing recruitment for Tumwater city employee positions, Administrative Services provides labor/employee relations and supports the Civil Service Commission which administers civil service laws covering career police officers and firefighters.

Labor relations & negotiations
The City negotiates collective bargaining agreements (CBA) with the Tumwater Police Guild, Tumwater Firefighter Local #2409, and Teamsters Local #252.
Civil Service Commission

The City of Tumwater provides learning opportunities through internships for students seeking experience in municipal government services. A college-level intern program is available.
Employee safety
The Central Safety Committee reviews safety concerns within the City organization and makes recommendations for training and reducing employee risk within the organization. Traffic and pedestrian safety concerns are reviewed by the city’s Traffic Team.
