Joint Animal Services is an interjurisdictional community service agency that provides education, enforcement, pet licensing, adoption, spay/neuter programs and shelter services to Tumwater, Olympia, Lacey and unincorporated areas of Thurston County.  Services vary in the cities and county.  Animal Services assists law enforcement officers in handling complaints and concerns for pets and wildlife, alive or deceased. For life-threatening emergencies, call 9-1-1.

Call Animal Services at (360) 352-2510 to report

  • Animal welfare concerns (abused or neglected animals)
  • Nuisance complaints (excessive barking)
  • Animal aggression (bite to human or another animal)
  • Injured or deceased wildlife in City right-of-way
  • Stray pets (alive, injured or deceased)
  • Found pets
  • Concerns for public health (rabies)

Additional services provided at the shelter 

  • Surrender a pet (if you can no longer care for it)
  • Reclaim a lost pet, call the Lost Pet Hotline immediately at (360) 352-2510, option 5
  • Volunteer or donate (Animal Services is supported by private donations and public funding)  
  • Pet licensing (Tumwater pets must be licensed.)
