Tumwater School Resource Officer

School-Resource-Officer-with-Mascots-002The School Resource Officer (SRO) provides school-based policing within the Tumwater School District sites, especially at Black Hills High School (BHHS) and Tumwater High School (THS).

The Tumwater Police Department and the Tumwater School District work collaboratively to provide a safe learning environment in our district’s schools. The SRO is able to provide valuable tools and resources to school staff, parents, and students, to create positive relationships with the students and develop strategies to resolve problems with the goal of educating and protecting the students and staff. In addition, the School Resource Officer is generally tasked with providing assistance to Patrol and the Detectives Division by assisting with enforcement and investigations that occur at the schools.

The Tumwater Police Department SRO's schedule follows the school district schedule. The SRO works on assignment within the Investigation’s Division during school breaks. Although the majority of duties are concentrated at the two district high schools, the SRO is responsible for providing services to all Tumwater School District sites within the City, including two middle schools and four elementary schools.

School Resource Officer (SRO) Detective Chuck Liska, email or call (360) 754-4200.
