The First Tee of South Puget Sound offers year round golf activities for youth ages 7-17 at the Tumwater Valley Golf Course. Program participants are taught life skills through the game of golf including The First Tee’s nine core values: Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Confidence, Responsibility, Perseverance, Courtesy, and Judgement. 

Location

The Tumwater Valley Golf Course is located at 4611 Tumwater Valley Drive SE in Tumwater.

Tasks

The First Tee program volunteers assist lead coaches with a number of tasks during youth golf classes. Tasks may include;

  • Supporting the Lead Coach by helping teach designated skills to youth ages 7-17
  • Managing check-in and check-out
  • Setting up and taking down equipment

Commitment

Volunteers are asked to commit to attending at least one class, about 2 hours each week, for a full program session.  Sessions range from 3-8 weeks based on the season.  

Qualifications

  • Must pass a background check
  • Must complete the First Tee of South Puget Sound volunteer training and orientation
  • Some knowledge of golf
  • Enjoy spending time with youth
